It was a bright, breezy morning when Jordan started hiking on a trail he had never tried before. The path was easy to follow and led through rolling hills with amazing views. Jordan felt good. His backpack wasn’t too heavy, and he had his map ready if he needed it.

About halfway through the trail, Jordan came to a steep, rocky hill. He climbed it carefully, stopping now and then to catch his breath and look around. When he got to the top, he saw someone sitting on the side of the trail. It was a woman, and she looked upset. She was holding her ankle and wincing in pain.
Jordan walked closer and asked, “Are you okay?”
The woman looked up and said, “I twisted my ankle back there. It’s really sore, and it’s hard to walk.”
Jordan frowned. He had been making good time and was excited to reach the top of the trail. But he couldn’t just leave her there.
“I have a wrap in my first-aid kit,” Jordan said. “It might help your ankle feel better.”
“That would be great,” the woman said with a small smile.

Jordan opened his first-aid kit and took out the wrap. He had learned how to use it before, so he wrapped her ankle carefully.
“Thanks,” the woman said as she stood up slowly. “It still hurts, but it’s a little better now.”
“Do you want me to walk with you for a bit?” Jordan asked. “At least until the trail gets easier?”
The woman hesitated. “I don’t want to slow you down,” she said.
Jordan shook his head. “It’s fine. I’m in no hurry.”
They walked together slowly. Jordan talked about some of the hiking tips his dad had taught him. The woman told him about her love for taking pictures of nature and even showed him a few on her phone. Before long, they reached a flat part of the trail where another group of hikers was resting.

“I think I’ll stay here with them,” the woman said. “Thank you so much for helping me.”
Jordan smiled. “No problem. I’m glad I could help.”
As Jordan kept hiking, he felt proud, but not because he was getting closer to the summit. Helping someone had made the hike more special. When he reached the top and looked out at the view, he felt happy, but he knew that helping the woman was the best part of his day.
That evening, Jordan told his dad about the hike. His dad smiled and said, “You know, the best part of any adventure isn’t just the trail. It’s the people you meet along the way.”
Jordan nodded. He realized this hike wasn’t just about reaching the top. It was about helping someone and how good that made him feel.
